Festival 2009 Report

Negombo, Sri Lanka

The feast in Sri Lanka was attended by 22 brethren. Though small in number they were large in warmth, love and enthusiasm.

The feast was held at the Camelot Beachfront Hotel in Negombo. Most of the brethren stayed at the hotel which provided three wonderful buffet meals a day. The opportunity to enjoy meals and fellowship together gave the feast goers a chance to share their stories of how they learned about God’s truth. Five of the brethren were attending the feast for the first time!

Sermons centered on the Kingdom of God and preparing ourselves now for the glorious return of Jesus Christ.

A group trip was taken to the Elephant Orphanage. We watched baby elephants being bottle fed and then observed the elephants in their wildlife setting. A few brethren enjoyed feeding them a banana. The elephants were then herded to a nearby river where they were given a chance to cool down and take a bath. Some courageous children (and adults) got in the water to help them bathe. The trip concluded with a walk through a lovely Herb Garden and while there, many brethren received FREE foot massages.

Family Day was enjoyed on the beach with several team races and challenges. Adults and children played in the warm Sri Lankan sun and memories were made that will be long remembered.

The Talent Show was a special highlight as children and adults all participated. With song, dance, musical instruments and a short skit – the Sri Lankan brethren used their God given talents to praise God and give entertainment to their fellow brothers and sisters. The evening concluded with a church dance.

This beautiful group of Sri Lankans are eagerly looking forward to the return of Jesus Christ and being united with other brothers and sisters across the world.
